Ko 'Olina

Last week on one of our days off we went to Ko 'Olina Lagoons to relax for the day. A new friend Laura who is a volunteer on the farm wanted me to take her family pictures at the lagoons and so she was nice enough to drop us off there early to enjoy the beach and then her and her husband and three kids came later in the afternoon for pictures.

Unfortunately it was a little chilly, but we still relaxed on the beach and walked around the resort area. We went to Aulani Disney Resort for a nice lunch at Ama Ama and then went snorkeling at one of the lagoons. There were so many different and colorful fish. Unfortunately we used up the last of our underwater camera, so we couldn’t take pictures at this visit.

It was a little weird to be back in resort/country club life compared to being on an organic farm in the mountains- but it was definitely a nice change! Ko Olina is a resort area on the west side of Oahu. There are three resorts - Aulani Disney Resort, JW Marriott Resort and Ko 'Olina Resort and Marina. There is also a beach club, many very nice town houses and of course great restaurants and some shops. There are four lagoons that are on this “private” land that legally by Hawaiian law have to be open to the public. It must be a little weird for the resort guests to have random people on their beautiful beaches, but it is nice for us to be able to visit these places without paying an arm and a leg for a one night stay.

This is a picture of all 4 lagoons and marina

It was a great day and we definitely will go back to take underwater pictures!
